Book news! Here’s the announcement from Publishers Weekly about my next novel. SONG FOR A WHALE will be published in early 2019 by Random House/Delacorte

My new Pinterest board for the middle grade novel Song For a Whale I’ve been working on has links about whales, Alaska, music, and antique radios

Here’s a reader at an award ceremony in Tokyo, with her artwork inspired by Chained. Pictured with her are the illustrator and translator of the Japanese edition, Hidaka Noriko and Wakabayashi Chizuru.

Read academic coach Tim O’Neill’s “Turning Authors Into Rock Stars,” about using social media to allow students to interact with authors (like me!) about the books they’ve read

The website of the California Young Reader Medal includes a resource guide for Chained

Chained was reviewed in India’s The Sunday Guardian

There’s a new site just for Chained, with deleted scenes and more behind-the-scenes information

The French edition of Chained is now available from Bayard, and the Japanese edition from Suzuki Publishing

Chained is a recipient of the Alabama Camellia Book Award! Thank you to all the students who voted

I’m excited to see Chained as a nominee on several book award lists, like New Hampshire’s Great Stone Face Award, The Maine Student Book Award, The California Young Reader Medal, The Bluestem Award in Illinois, the Children’s Crown Award, and Japan’s Sakura Medal.

The Indian edition of Chained is now available from Penguin India
